2006 GSX-R600 – overview and characteristics

Overview:
He started racetracks far from Suzuki Hamamatsu, Japan headquarters. A group of dedicated Suzuki engineers overseas on a fact-finding mission wandered through the paddock and spectator parking lots, looking for motorcycles and watch the races.
The riders at these events did not plant contracts, and have not been paid to the race. They came because they loved the competition, sport, and they rode motorcycles they bought themselves.

The race classes were defined by engine size, rider skill level and changes eligible. Grids 1000 machines were packed with GSX-R1000s. Grids 750cc machines featured row after row of GSX-R750s. But the 600cc grids are no longer completely filled with GSX-R600s. After years of trying, the competition has finally caught up, again.

The engineers have worked stopwatches, spoke to the riders and mechanics, notebooks filled with observations and comments. They compared what they had seen at these regional races to what’s happening in the world and AMA Superbike and other national Superbike series, and the results of endurance series in Europe and the USA. When they returned to Japan, the engineers had a clear plan: Take Suzuki has learned from the construction and dominating the race GSX-R1000 and use it to jump again be the 600cc competition.

Characteristics:
New engine

All new ultra-compact and lightweight 4-stroke, 4-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine designed to be narrower and lighter with increased performance and responsiveness.

Improvement of electronic fuel injection Suzuki system features a double butterfly (SDTV) system – with two fuel injectors per cylinder, a good response of gas and high torque output.

New features titanium cylinder head and intake valves exhaust valves using a narrow valve angle for a compact combustion chamber and a compression ratio 12.5:1

Forged aluminum alloy pistons with short skirts to cut sides. New redesigned largest steel chrome molybdenum rods are shotpeened to improve strength.

Valve bucket diameters are brought to work with camshaft more aggressive specifications.

The crankshaft and drive shaft positions are revised to make it more compact casings front to rear and the engine was shot forward in the chassis for maximum performance.

Air ventilation holes between the cylinders are now greater extent 39mm to reduce internal pressure pumping and reduce mechanical losses.
New trapezoidal shape wider radiator cooling increases the capacity without increasing frontal area, more compact cooling fan design further improves efficiency.

A new back torque limiting clutch helps make more fluid down fast in collaboration with a transmission speed of six days to internal gear ratios and change fork redesigned better acceleration and superb performance displacement

All new Suzuki advanced stainless steel exhaust systems using an innovative engine under the layout to maximize aerodynamics and improved mass centralization

Suzuki Tuning exhaust system is integrated in the mid-pipe using a servo-controlled valve to adjust the exhaust system based on engine speed and improved low-end torque

New forged steel crankshaft inertia characteristics increased 16% to optimize traction while cornering

New Chassis

All new aluminum alloy cast framework, using five sections is designed to provide an ideal balance of stiffness for better management and less weight.

New swingarm aluminum alloy is more rigid with a swing arm pivot 25mm wider and oscillating assembly is 38 mm more and improved rear suspension wheel traction.

New rear suspension has a link aluminum alloy forged link and a piece aluminium alloy forged link rod to increase traction and reduce lateral loads.

41mm inverted Showa front fork are adjustable for rebound, compression and pre-load settings updated with rake and performance measurements to improve performance cornering.

Showa rear shock uses a piston 46mm and a 16mm machine largest and is fully adjustable for relaxation, compression and preload.
Bridgestone tires mounted on new cast aluminum wheels with thinner spokes are optimized to reduce unsprung weight.

Montage of radial four-piston front brake calipers with larger 310mm rotors and a new lightweight single piston rear brake caliper.

New adjustable footpegs can be moved in three different positions with a 14mm horizontal and vertical range.

More compact chassis package including a fuel tank shorter, more narrow width, height seat lower and shorter total height rider to improve comfort and mobility.

The compact lightweight group has a stepper motor controlled analog tach, LCD speedometer, dual tripmeters, clock, fuel and all new gear position indicator.
